Workshop @ Actors Centre North

I will be teaching a workshop at Actors Centre North in Manchester in April.
The details are below. If you are interested, please e-mail: info@actorscentrenorth.org.

Acting Through Song.  Friday 13 April 1030-1730.  Fee: Members
£40 Non-Members £50
Venue: TBC (Near Piccadilly
Station Manchester)

The workshop focuses on the "Acting Through Song" process from beginning to the end, searching for the elements of a truthful musical theatre performance.
Rooted in the Acting Technique, the workshop aims to merge it with the technical demands of musicianship and singing, enabling participants to achieve a believable delivery of a musical theatre song. Ultimately, it aims to give a number of tools to the actor so that they can build an idiosyncratic process. It also aims to enable the participants to analyse any musical theatre number in detail to allow them to make technically appropriate yet believable choices. Ideal for the actor who has reservations about the genre, it focuses on thought process, connection and the employment of musical knowledge and technical skill to achieve a developed, intelligible performance that has truth. Participants are asked to bring a song that they are highly familiar with (not necessarily memorised) to work on.
The session operates in master-class format allowing the participants to
observe each other at work and to interact at a professional level.
