  • SILENT WITNESS:
  • An evening of dialogue in creating, supporting, developing deaf arts in Scotland.
The purpose of the evening is to engage members of the arts, deaf and education communities in a dialogue about the future and development of deaf arts - in particular deaf and visual theatre in Scotland. Invited gues and gain insight into his experiences working within the international deaf arts network and with other theatre companies and arts organizations, with a view to discussing the place of Scottish deaf performers within that network. Ramesh, a Singaporean based in Glasgow, is a multi-faceted deaf performer. He has developed performances using a range of visual and physical styles, ensuring accessibility to both deaf and hearing audiences. For the past 10 years his solo performances and collaborations have toured nationally and internationally. His work has earned much critical acclaim, indeed his last performance Gin and Tonic and Passing Trains secured him a best actor award - Life! Theatre Awards (Singapore). Ramesh is now also the artistic director of Little Beacon, a theatre company set up in Scotland in 2009 working towards creating visual theatre. (www.rameshmeyyappan.com)
